CUSTOMER SERVICE

How do I submit my samples for analysis?

In order for samples to be submitted for testing, we require a completed Analysis Request Form and for an account to be made for your company. The samples also need to be packaged appropriately where relevant.

Samples can be dropped off in person at our laboratories, or you are welcome to send your samples to us through a courier service.

Symbio may be able to provide complimentary sample pick-up in metro areas for major cities. Please contact admin@symbiolabs.com.au to find out.

Symbio can provide sample collection consumables, including water bottles and jars. We can send these through a courier, or we can make these available for collection at our laboratory sites. Charges will apply for some consumables and for freight costs. Please contact admin@symbiolabs.com.au to order your consumables.

TAT varies depending on the type of test requested. They are included in the quotes that are provided. Samples for microbiology tests are tested on the day of receipt (Day 0). Results will also be issued on weekends and holidays. For chemistry tests, TAT is based on working days.

Accelerated options may be available after confirming with our Lab Manager if possible.

We are unable to expedite any microbiology tests further. Samples are already tested on day of receipt and incubation time is determined by standards. We can expedite chemistry and residue tests and a surcharge applies. Please contact admin@symbiolabs.com.au for more information.

Yes. We provide various rapid tests. Our Symbio proprietary rtPCR test methods for Salmonella, Listeria spp and L. mono has a ONE day TAT. This technology also has a lower rate of false positives.

A minimum of 100g of sample is required for Microbiological Analyses. 

A minimum of 200g of sample is required for Chemical/Nutritional Analyses. 

(Note: For Allergen testing, to avoid contamination, samples must be sent in a separate sealed bag. 200g of product is required.) 

A minimum of 1kg or 5 large pieces is required for Pesticide Residue Analysis of fruit or vegetables. 

500g is sufficient for residue analysis of grain, stockfeed and food.

Symbio Laboratories has lab staff available 365 days a year. Local sample collections can even be made on public holidays. If Symbio is notified, our lab staff can collect these samples and commence testing

Pricing & Payment

How do I pay for testing?

Once we register your samples, we will send you an invoice with payment details and instructions.

Symbio offers competitive pricing based on sample volumes (the more samples, the sharper the price we can offer you).

Once you have made contact, please provide an estimate of your annual testing requirements, and our team will be able to provide a quote based on the numbers.

For new clients, if you have applied for a credit account via this credit application link, the invoice will be issued after the results are sent.

Typical payment terms are 30 days. If you do not have a credit account, an invoice will be issued to you once samples are registered and results are available. Results will only be issued once this payment is received by Symbio.

Is Symbio’s IT system compatible with other systems? Can this be customised?

Symbio has a robust IT team (at least 15 staff) that is based locally in Brisbane. Symbio has a very strong IT capability to customise and develop bespoke IT solutions that are compatible with our clients’ systems.

Symbio laboratories are TGA approved to perform therapeutic & pharmaceutical testing based on British Pharmacopeia (BP) or US Pharmacopeia (USP) methods. This includes, but is not limited to, Endotoxin testing, Bioburden testing, Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET), Sterility Testing and other microbiological and chemical tests. Yes, we do. Symbio offers NATA-accredited testing for detection & enumeration of Giardia & Cryptosporidium spp. as well as differentiation & identification of pathogenic Cryptosporidium & Giardia species.

It depends on what tests you are requesting for. Typically for Listeria spp, L.mono and Salmonella testing via Real-Time PCR, a single swab will be enough as we are using the Multiplex rtPCR technique. If SPC, Y&M and other Micro tests are also required, an additional swab will be required.

Our rtPCR method is faster and more selective. It has a 1-day TAT. Less chance of presumptive positive vs other rapid methods. It is a Symbio proprietary method; therefore, it is more cost effective.

Yes, Symbio performs customised shelf-life testing to help determine product expiration, safety, and optimal storage conditions.
